German international striker Lukas Podolski has said that he does not have the feeling that he should be working hard in order to impress Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. The 27-year-old German international recently confirmed his move to English club Arsenal from Koln, according to the Arsenal news website.
He has been linked with a move to a bigger club for many seasons now, but it has finally arrived in the form of Arsenal. Lukas Podolski has the experience of playing for a big team in the form of Bayern Munich, although it did not go too well. Yet, Lukas Podolski has said that he will not playing only to impress Arsene Wenger.
It is expected that the signature of Lukas Podolski will be enough for Arsene Wenger to convince that Robin van Persie can be sold. The Dutchman is entering into the final year of his contract. At 28 years of age, he is not expected to play top-level football for many seasons now. Hence, there is a consideration amongst Arsenal that they could sell the 40 goal man due to the arrival of Lukas Podolski. The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with the German national team. He is currently competing for a place with Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez.
“I don’t think I have anything to prove to Arsene Wenger. He has seen me play several times and knows what I can do. I think it is clear that my transfer was no accident and, of course, I’m very glad I signed with Arsenal, and am looking forwards to playing with Jack Wilshere. In fact, what has really pleased me is that Arsenal fans can watch me play in a tournament like this and realise what I’m capable of at the highest level. Very soon I will also show that in London,” said Lukas Podolski in response to the presence of Arsene Wenger.
