Former Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has stated that the Gunners have interestingly continued their progress under manager Mikel Arteta and that he is happy for them. Arsenal have become a better side this season as compared to last season when they were suffering defeats after defeats and managing draws in games where they should be winning. After some of those defeats, intense pressure was hovering around Arteta’s job and a lot of fans were calling for him to be sacked and replaced by a better option. However, the club backed the manager and stood by him, handing him some cash to make some signings instead.

Arteta made use of the transfer funds given to him by Arsenal and he was able to sign a couple of players for the north London club. Although he missed out on some of his transfer targets, he was able to secure the signings of some of the players he wanted including Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Nuno Tavares, and Sambi Lokonga. All of his signings have become an active part of the rejuvenation for the club so far this season and with Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the latest member of the exodus at the club, he has continued to gradually transform the Arsenal squad.

Podolski stated that he has been watching Arsenal closely and insisted that they were very poor last season. According to him, Arsenal needed a lot of reinforcements two summers ago but they failed to sign any good players and it affected their season. However, after revealing that he was satisfied with the business Arteta handled last summer, he added that the players they brought in have made the team play some better football than they did last season and hailed their progress under the manager.
