Niko Kovac was not too unhappy with how his players performed in the recent game in the German top tier against Werder Bremen. It was a close contest where Bayern emerged victorious, but it was a game which could have gone either way. Till the very last second, Werder was in it, making several moves with their offensive line and threatening Bayern’s goal, but Bayern managed to keep their nerve and ensured that there was no equalizer scored as the final scoreline read 2-1 in their favor.

Bayern Munich, ahead of this game, was not enjoying a great time in the German top tier. Out of the last three games they had played, they could bag only two points as they played two draws and were beaten once travelling away to Borussia Dortmund. So they desperately wanted a victory in this game and although they got it eventually, it was not a flawless performance and Kovac himself admitted it.

According to Kovac, speaking from tactics point of view or technique point of view, Bayern had the upper hand for most parts of the game and also towards the end when the Werder offensive line turned the heat on, his players showed great character to grind it out and make sure that the advantage was not lost at the latter stage, but where they erred was in terms of conversion. When they had the scoring opportunities, they couldn’t finish well and it happened on quite a few occasions.

“We dominated the match technically, tactically but towards the end also in terms of fighting spirit.” Kovac was quoted saying by SPORTSTAR Live.

“If there’s something I find fault with, it’s our conversion of chances. I counted six-seven gilt-edged chances we should have converted into goals.” Kovac added.
